A voronoi pattern is an area divided into cells that originate from a ‘seed’. As the seed grows, it takes over the closest space and only stops growing when it hits another cell. This results in a boundary that is equidistant to the two initial seed points. Voronoi patterns are found everywhere from bacteria and bone growth to bubbles and urban development.
